Thanet Speakers club does not meet in mid-summer, but members are preparing for a busy schedule over the next ten months.
Our local meetings are friendly, with an atmosphere that is most supportive to inexperienced and timid speakers, even though they are chaired and follow an agenda. For the brave and fearless, however, the door is open for speaking competitions at area, district and national level. Being part of a national organisation allows us to add an optional seven dates to our dairies in addition to the nineteen Thanet Club meetings.
We meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, except December. We’d be very unpopular with our families if we skipped out on Christmas Eve to practice our speech-making skills.
The next meeting will be on Thursday 10th September. Everyone will be invited to deliver a prepared speech on the theme of “Holidays”, new guests are also welcome to join in or sit back and enjoy.
As always there will also be the impromptu session when people can speak for two minutes on a given subject with no advanced warning. Fortunately, deviation is acceptable, especially if it makes us laugh.
Meetings are held at the Royal Temple Yacht Club in Ramsgate and start at 8 pm sharp. For more information you can speak to Deborah on 607192 or search for us on all the usual social media. The website is:
